Happy 34th Birthday Papa!

Yeah, our Papa is 1 yr older today :-)  And when I explained to Niels how old Papa is, he just said, "Wow!  That's a lot of hands to count!" ("Woa!  Da's wel veel handjes!")

Not so good weather, cannot go to the beach...so we just drove to something similar closeby...ZILVERMEER!

Nina's first time on sand...she liked it, but not too long :-)  She touched it, looked at it and studied what it is, she even tasted it (hihi) but afterwards she wanted to be picked up.

And Niels on the other hand, already used to playing in sand, was enjoying full time the waterpark!

After that, we ate our sandwiches by the sand and went off to the playground.  LOOOOTS of fun...until it rained!  It was time to go home anyways...everyone was tired ;-)

Happy 62nd Birthday Lolo Ben!

Have you heard of any other Lolo celebrating his birthday twice?  Only our Lolo Ben does that!...and that 1 week apart from each other!

HAPPY 62nd BIRTHDAY!!!

Nina bij K&G op 9 maanden

Hello hello,

Last wednesday we were by K&G for Nina's 9th month check-up.  And as I expected already, yes, Nina is heavy! Haha.  Although she is just at the 50% curve of baby girls her age, she grew a lot from our last visit at K&G.  Her height is as well on the 50% curve.

Well, there were 2 other girls there at the center having the same age as Nina, one from our neighborhood (Emma) and one who is just 2 days older than her (Kato).  Both these girls can already crawl fast while our Nina is contented sitting and hopping up and down while grabbing the toys...but when you look at them it looks like Nina is older cause she is a looot bigger than the other 2.  Now I dont know if I should be proud or not (hahaha)  Nina is bigger but lazy to crawl while the other 2 were smaller but can crawl fast (oh my hahahaha what a dilemma).

Anyways, after we went home I tried to learn Nina how to go to sitting position from lying position...and now she can do it good alone, from lying down she goes on her own to sitting position to crawling position.  Looks like she just needed a little guidance ;-)

Then she starts to crawl slowly...but surely (she probably saw she was a little bit delayed so she tried to work on it).  Backwards works best and faster!

Nina: 9 months and getting pretty pretty...heavy!

Little Nina is 9 months now (not very little anymore)!  And everything is going good (aside from a runny nose once in a while). She looooves to stand up and play with Niels' toys...loves to eat ice cream and loves to be thrown to the air!  The crazier you do, the bigger and louder her laugh is!

But additional tooth...I dont see one coming soon.  And crawling...I dont see it happening either anytime soon.  It may also be that she will skip that phase and jump to the next step...who knows...only she knows :-)

But all in all, our little princess is starting to be a real toddler!  Naughty and nice :-)

Its summer vacation!!!

A few days before the vacation started, I made Mama and Papa so proud when I showed them I can write my name :-)

Balen's Tour De France is open!

By the compilation, you will see my team working IN ACTION preparing for the tour....

My trainer and Cameraman: Papa
He gives me good advise on how to bike really fast and on how to fall correctly

My technician: Opa
He makes sure everything is oiled and all screws are tightly fixed.

Also have a medical team with me: Mama
She is not in the picture though cause she is also Nina's nurse :-)

And Nina and Oma are my biggest fans!!!

1...2...3...START!

The first few moments (about a minute hehe) it was kinda weird.  Getting on a bike with pedals and with only 2 tires!  How am I going to sit on it?  Isnt it too big for me? I asked myself.  But when I started moving my legs and began to roll, it went so smooth as if I have already been biking all my life!  Everyone was amazed (even me!) and of course they were all very proud of me.

So I biked, and biked and biked until to the moment that I wanted to stop...ooh oooh...HOW???  So what I did was I drove on to Oma's grass and try to fall on the soft grass...but I rolled down on the hard pavement and scratched my knees a little bit.  Not really a big deal cause I had a good and very experienced Medical team!

Next time - Papa said - Call me when you want to stop so I can help you get off the bike.

And I didnt make a second thought and shouted..."Papa! I want to stooooop!"

And the day ended sooo good!

BALENSE TOUR DE FRANCE 2011 IS GESTART !

Hier kunnen jullie mijn eigen ploeg volle bak bezig zien met de voorbereidingen...

En, Nina en Oma, die zijn mijn grootste supporters!

1...2...3..START!

Het begin (zo een dikke minuut hehe), was het een beetje raar...opstappen op een fiets met pedaal en alleen 2 wielen!

"Hoe moet ik daar op gaan zitten?  Die is wel een beetje groot voor mij?" vroeg ik aan mezelf ... Maar toen ik begon te rijden ging alles zo vlot alsof ik al jaren kan fietsen!  Iedereen was verbaasd en natuurlijk zeer trots op me!

En ik fiets, en ik fiets en ik fiets en toen ik wilde stoppen ...euh... hoe dan??? Dus ik rij naar Oma's gazon en viel recht op het gras...dat was de bedoeling ten minste...maar ik was op de klinkers gevallen en heb een wond op mijn knietje...maar dat was niet zo erg want ik heb een goede verzorgster.  

Volgende keer - vetelde Papa me - ..."Als je wil stoppen, roep mij maar en ik ga je tegen houden zodat je kan afstappen!" 

Dus heb ik dan geroepen..."Papa, Ik wil stoppen!" 

En de dag was goed...
