News about my kapatid

Days are getting long, it means my playing time as well...I thought...but its not true (hehe). However, I can go outside more often now and play with my bike. Have long walks with Mama and Papa, feed the deers, help Papa in the forest and in the garden, and gather nice pebbles “mooi steentjes” from the parking of the Hall at the back (haha, I hope I wont get caught).

Even if Im a little bit sick as of this moment, it does not really matter to me...I play outside until I fall on my knees from tiredness.

Enough of me though, we have here some news about my kapatid! Everything is OK with the baby and its growing good and fast! Last 1 March its just 6,5cm long and a month after its already 10,1cm! My little kapatid* is following my footsteps! Mama said I was growing fast also when I was still in her womb.

Hope we can have another photo soon!

01 March 2010: 6,5cm (our itsy bitsy tiny winy little baby)

The Easter Bunny passed by!

Its that time of the year again when the week is holy...no bells ring until Easter Sunday at 3pm and when the bells dont ring it means...they are distributing easter eggs everywhere! Easter Bunnies are helping as well! And this year they did their job good even if the weather was not really cooperating.

First at home and then to Oma...everywhere there are easter eggs!!!! Believe me!  Celeste and I also got pair of clothes from the bunny! Thanks Easter Bunny!

1. Liesbeth is expected to give birth by end of May (soooooooon!!!) And we already know its gonna be a baby boy!

2. Astrid is expected to pop up by June (second in line)...boy or girl? They dont know yet.

3. Hannelore, the mama of Lieke, is for August (Lieke will be a big sister soon!)

4. Mama, my mama, is for end of october (so meaning I will be a big brother soon!)

And another good news..mama's sister...Ninang Geli is also expecting a baby!  And she will be for end November or December.

What a year! 2010 will be rich of new crying babies.  Its gonna be a tough job for me to be a big brother and cousin...oh well, its gonna be a nice adventure for all.

Here is an update on the existing family babies:

Lieke, youngest of the 3...so far..soon not anymore!

Ehem...me of course (middle of the 3, the only boy...for now)

The oldest of the three...our big Celeste

Windpokken, maar toch...Bulutong but still...

Blijf ik goed spelen, lekker eten en lang slapen! Zoals Oma zei, ben ik nog altijd de zonneke in huis!

I stay playing as active as I was, eating as much as I have been eating and sleeping as good as normal. Just like what Oma says, Im still the sunshine in the house!

A few weeks ago, I started getting fever and pain in my mouth. I wake up at night crying and told Mama I had pain while pointing inside my mouth. Papa brought me the following Monday to the doctor before he left for his training in France. As behaved as I am, I did all what the doctor asked me to do. I laid down on the bed, I said “Aaaaaah” when he checked my throat, he checked my ears and I let him hear my heartbeat.

“He is growing teeth!” the doctor exclaimed. It’s kinda good news since we expected something worse. But I am just a growing boy and is having additional few big teeth in my collection.

A few days later...still having quite a fever once in a while, on a Tuesday night when Mama was cleaning me up in the bathroom...she saw that I had a red spot on my forehead. The next day when we got to Nicole, Mama showed the wound to Nicole to ask what it is. Nicole assured Mama that I just probably hit my forehead somewhere...(although thinking about it, since last week Brent and Arne, the twins from the daycare have chickenpox!)

Wednesday night, Mama was cleaning me again in the bathroom, she took my shirt out and saw that I have loooots of red spots on my back!

Thursday morning, Oma and Opa picked me up...Mama requested that I be brought to the doctor to be checked up. And yeah, I have chickenpox too! Not a happy sight but I dont really have any trouble with it. LUCKILY, Mama already had chickenpox when she was younger so Mama and the baby are not in any risk at all.

That Sunday, we had brunch scheduled with the neighbors...but since I have chickenpox they were thinking of looking for a babysit for me so we dont infect the neighbors Arthur and Louise....but Saturday afternoon, Frank the Papa of Arthur and Louise approached my papa telling him that Arthur also have chickenpox...so blessing in disguise...I can come brunching too!

Its been 2 weeks now and this week starts the itchy period when all wounds start to heal.  But Mama is taking good care of me...and soon Im gonna be the old gwaping Niels again! SOON!

Till then,

Nielske

Wats dat???

In his delicate age of 2, Niels has mastered to identify flawlessly at least 20 vehicles from air, sea and land (e.g. auto, truck/vrachtwagen, van, motor/brommer, train, bike/fiets, bus, step, kruiwagen, politieauto, brandweerauto, balloon, jeep, tank, tractor, airplane/vliegtuig and boat/boot) including dutch and english versions of some.

He has memorized in his little head at least 50 children songs that we know of (and that including Happy Birthday in english and dutch).

He can sing the complete english alphabet on his own and can count 1 till 10 in dutch although sometimes reversing the 5 and the 6.

Identifying colors are no problem as well.  From red, orange, yellow, green, light and dark blue, brown to pink not forgetting its dutch version!

Its amazing how he keeps them all in his young mind.

With such interest in everything, since 2 weeks ago, he has bombarded us with the question "Wat's dat?"  To anything he sees on TV, at home, outside...whether he knows that answer or not, his question is "Wat's dat?"

If he knows the answer and Nico tries to give him the wrong one, he will continue asking until Nico says the correct word.  But if honestly he doesnt know what it is, he believes us and says "Yeah".

Also since monday he has learned something new...when we ask "Who has baby?"  He points to my tummy and sayd "Mama baby!"  He can also say "broertje" of "zusje".

So I ask you then for the picture below...WAT'S DAT?
